Chief Greg Eyler and I visited the Thurmont Elementary School on Friday morning, Aug. 20, 2021 to attend the Flag Raising Ceremony. We had a great time seeing all the students and enjoyed our visit immensely. On the way out Principal Karl Williams invited us to his office to show us something of interest he found. He asked if we had attended TES and if either of us had Mrs. Betty Willard as a teacher. Both of us had Mr. Willard, then he asked if either of us were in her class in 1962.  I was in Mrs. WIllard's class in 1962! He pulled out this booklet from when I was in Mrs. Willard's third-grade class in 1962! I had a quick look through it and asked if I could scan it to share with others.

So thanks to Mr. Karl Williams here is the booklet 'History of our Community' created by Mrs. Willard's third-grade class in May of 1962. There are 20 pages, each one is displayed individually. Here we see the booklet in a clear plastic cover, over the years several pages came loose but they are all there. The booklet was used in the Library and at the end is a page showing the names of students that used the book while it was in the TES Library.
