A photo from the Thurmont Historical Society showing the Canning Factory after the main building was demolished. Notes on the back of the photo: June 21, 1967 Thurmont Cannery demolition started. Although the building was demolished and the materials burned in 1967 portions of the smoke stack base, retaining walls, foundations and concrete floors remained in place until March 2002. At that time the property was purchased by the Masonic Order. All the overgrowth was removed and burned, and the remaining above ground structures were demolished and buried on the property. Today the only sign remaining of this building is a small section of the foundation wall closest to the tracks.
