This is an early view of the stone house at 27 West Main Street. This house was built by Jacob Weller, BS, and served as an inn for years before becoming a private home. in the late 1800s it was occupied by Hannah Johnson and was sold to the Zimmermans at the turn of the 19th Century. The home fell into disrepair over the years and was purchased by John Ford and lovingly restored. As you may know, John discovered the image of a young lady painted on the stairway and preserved it.
I lived across the street at 26 West Main Street for ten years and spoke to the elderly couple that lived there regularly. Many times they would lock themselves out of the home and I was asked to lift my son Chris through a window so he could open the front door.
