This photo shows the interior of the Weybright/Long/Hobbs Store at 11 Water Street in Thurmont. Saylor Weybright is at the right next to Lee Martin. Saylor Weybright purchased this building in the early 1900s in order to expand his business at 13 Water Street. He made two major improvements by digging a basement under the building and by adding a second floor. The second floor was suspended from the rafters by large wrought iron bolts. The HoMarWay (Hobbs-Martin-Weybright) Dairy was located in the basement of this building and 13 Water Street. There is a connection in the basements between 11 and 13 Water Street and there was once a stairway leading to the basement between the two buildings. This photo was taken in 1930-193. This is the old Moravian Church Building at 11 Water Street. This building later housed the Thurmont Public Library and now (2019) serves as the Thurmont Main Street Center.
