In this detail the Western Maryland Railway runs left to right with Woodside Avenue on the far side of the tracks. At the right can be seen Stocksdale's Warehuse buitl next to the WMRW line. This building burned at least twice in the ealry 1900's and was rebuilt, it survives today (2020) relatively unchanged. To the immediate left of Stocksdale's bilding can be seen the coal bunkers belonging to John Creager, rail hopper cars would drop caol into the bunkers from the elevated track siding. To the left and across BOundary aAcvnue are several one story buildings, these where John Creagers lumber yard. You can see the name THURMont painted on the roof of onme of thebuildings. This was an early aviation marker to help guide pilots before radio and location beacons were introduced. Most small towns had at least one building with the town name painted on the roof for this purpose.
