Joe Eyler offered to allow me to scan and display this photo taken in 1939. My thanks to Joe for sharing this great photo showing so many of his family. This picture was taken at the Eyler Stables Emmitsburg Road location. In the photo from Left - Right are Joe's parents Ruth and Joe H. Eyler, the little guy on the hood of the truck is Joe, next to him is Rover his dog, George Millhiem is seated next to Joe, his uncle Bill is next holding a horse, the next man is unknown, Harold "Hip" Williard and June Fraley are standing on the ramp, the next man is unknown and at the far right is Joe's grandfather and stable owner Harry Eyler.
Eyler Stables was famous for its racehorses and these must be some of those prized horses. Joe told me that his grandfather Harry died one evening after feeling ill while in the auctioneer's booth at the horse auction. He had left the auction and went to see Dr. Gray. Left - Right are Joe's parents Ruth and Joe H. Eyler, the little guy on the hood of the truck is Joe, next to him is Rover his dog, George Millhiem is seated next to Joe, his uncle Bill is next holding a horse, the next man is unknown, June Fraley and Hip Willard are standing on the ramp, the next man is unknown and at the far right is Joe's grandfather and stable owner Harry Eyler. Just visible at the crest of the mountain at the left is the power line headed up the mountain parallel to Rte 550.
