This advertisement for the Aurora Cottage ran in the July 22, 1897 issue of the Catoctin Clarion. The ad offers rooms in the Annex. The Annex was added to the original Aurora Cottage in the late 1800s. The ad notes the location as the Eastern Suburbs, Aurora Cottage is located at 513 East Main Street. Sometime during the early 1900s, the Annex was removed to the adjoining building lot at 601 East Main Street where it still stands today as a private home. The owner is listed as Charles Cassell and his wife. Mr. Cassell was the editor of the Catoctin Clarion for many years. He also owned the corner store at N. Church Street and East Main Street where he sold a wide array of items including prescription drugs.
