Western Maryland Engine 906 sits in front of the Thurmont Station on June 10, 1939. No 906 appears to be a Lima L-1, Construction Number 5090, built circa 1915 with a 2-8-8-2 configuration and must have been one of the larger steam engines running on this line. Judging by the man standing at the top of the tender they may be moving forward to take on water from the watering column just past the Carroll Street crossing. This photo was taken from across Carroll Street, the corner of the WMRR Station can be seen on the far left and at the right are houses on Lombard Street. See the next photo for a detailed view of the engine.
