This 8 mm home movie shows the last H&F Trolleys to run to Thurmont. The date was February 20, 1954 and a large crowd gathered at the Western Maryland Station to see the last trolleys. The two trolley cars arrived just before noon and after comments by Thurmont Mayor Ray Weddle and P&E President R. Paul Smith they headed back to Frederick for the last time. Mayor Weddle is the first speaker you will see, he is followed by Potomac Edison President R. Paul Smith. Potomac Edison was the parent company of the Hagerstown and Frederick Rail Road
I have had the 8 mm film for several years and just got around to converting it to video. I believe that this is the first time this home movie has been displayed to the public. My thanks to the person that made this movie available.
