This is the upper part of North Church Street. On the left from the top is Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, which was evidently not hooked up to the water system. Next is the old Methodist Church and parsonage. Then there is the Opera House, this was the Thurmont Town Hall with the Guardian Hose Company in the basement. The Town Hall was removed in 1950 for the 'new' GHC fire station, which has since been replaced with the new building. Next was Doctor Birely's house, his was removed to create the GHC parking lot. Next is St. John's Lutheran Church. Below the St. John's is the church Parish hose and below that the Creeger House, home of the Historical Society.
