This is the Blue Mt. Tourist Camp located at Catoctin Furnace Road and Blue Mountain Road. This photo was taken in the 1920’s and is the earliest view I have of the property. I was told by Les Isanogle that he attended the Blue Mountain School located in this building prior to the tourist camp. The building does look like it could have been a one room school with the entrance in the center of the right end of the building. By this time additional doors and a porch had been added to the side of the building for the store and gas pumps. With several additions to the building this would later be known as Hoover’s Blue Mountain Tourist Camp. Hoover had small cabins for rent behind the main building. In the 1960’s more addition were made and it was owned by Bob Carson and was known as the Blue Mountain Inn. It was famous for seafood and eventually was sold a couple of times and then closed in the late 1990’s. The building was demolished and a new commercial building now houses a glass company.
