One of the many Beck views of the Western Maryland Train Station, this one is taken looking West from Boundary Avenue across the main line. The lumber stacked at the bottom left is from the lumber yard that was located on Boundary. At the left can be seen one of the water towers used to water the engines as they stopped in Thurmont. To the left of the water tower there are two columns of steam rising, these could be from the Osler Excelsior works, the canning factory or a train on the tracks. That there are so many images of the WMRR station is a testament to the importance of the railroad in the lives of Thurmont's residents. Could that be Charlie Beck's straw boater resting on the pile of lumber?
